The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued a notice to hold the Indian Economic Service (IES)/ Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Exam 2024. Candidates who are interested in the vacancy information and have met all qualifying requirements can read the notification and apply online.
Educational Qualifications for UPSC IES or ISS 2024
- A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics / Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a University incorporated by of an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.
- A candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subject or a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.
How to apply for UPSC IES or ISS 2024
- Candidates are required to apply online only by using the website https//www.upsconline.nic.in. It is essential for the applicant to register himself/herself first at One Time Registration (OTR) platform, available on the Commission’s website, and then proceed for filling up the online application for the examination.
- OTR has to be registered only once in life time. This can be done anytime throughout the year. If the candidate is already registered, he/she can proceed straightway for filling up the online application for the examination.
Penalty – Wrong Answers for UPSC IES or ISS 2024
Candidates should note that there will be a penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.
MOBILE PHONES BANNED for UPSC IES or ISS 2024
- The use of any mobile phone (even in switched off mode), pager or any electronic equipment or programmable device or storage media like pen drive, smart watches, etc. or camera or blue tooth devices or any other equipment or related accessories either in working or switched off mode capable of being used as a communication device during the examination is strictly prohibited. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examinations.
- Candidates are advised in their interest not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones or any valuable/costly items to the venue of the examination, as no arrangement for safe-keeping will be made at the venue of the examination. Commission will not be responsible for any loss in this regard.

- Last Date to Apply Online: 30-04-2024 till 18:00 Hours
- Date for Correction Window: 01-05-2024 to 07-05-2024
- Date of Exam: 21-06-2024
- Minimum Age Limit: 21 Years
- Maximum Age Limit: 30 Years i.e he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1994 and not later than 1st August, 2003.
- Age relaxation is applicable as per rules.
- For All Other Candidates: Rs. 200/-
- For Female/SC/ST/PwBD candidates : Nil
- Payment Mode: Through any Branch of SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of any bank or by using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card/UPI Payment.
