Cordite Factory Aruvnkadu has issued a notice for the recruitment of Tenure Based CPW Personnel Vacancies on Contract Basis. Candidates who are interested in the vacancy information and have met all qualifying requirements can read the notification and apply.
Cordite Factory, Aruvankadu, is located in the mountainous area of Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, and was established in 1904. The plant is well connected by road (Coimbatore, approximately 85 kilometres) and rail (Mettupalayam, 35 km). CFA had the requisite benefits of a favourable climate for propellant production, its own reservoir for water supply, and the Madras Regimental Centre, which is located around 5 km away for security purposes.
CFA is a pioneer in the production of high-quality propellants for a variety of ammunition, including 105mm, 120mm, 130mm, and 155mm rounds, as well as propellant for naval ordnance and small weapons. CFA’s latest innovation, Triple Base propellant Bi modular Charges for 155mm Ammunition, is a significant achievement.
In 1892, smokeless powder had supplanted regular gunpowder in all European countries and America. In India, gunpowder was still employed as a propellant for both small arms and artillery, and there were two gunpowder factories, one in Ishapore and one in Kirkee. In June of that year, His Excellency the Commander-In-Chief of India convened a conference in Calcutta to discuss the introduction of smokeless powder in India, and the decision of this conference was that military authorities could not be held responsible for India’s safety if troops in India using ordinary gunpowder were called upon to meet European troops using smokeless powder.
It is recommended that steps should be taken immediately to introduce smokeless powder for the Army in India, and that, pending investigations and any decision that might be reached regarding its manufacture in India, immediate steps should be taken to place a contract in England with one of the large explosive firms (preferably with Messrs Nobel & Co., Ardeer, Scotland), for the entire supply of cordite to India, and that an Officer (Captain D.M. Babington This was the first step towards the introduction of smokeless powder into India.

Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examinations.
- Candidates are advised in their interest not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones or any valuable/costly items to the venue of the examination, as no arrangement for safe-keeping will be made at the venue of the examination. Commission will not be responsible for any loss in this regard.
